With 2008 being the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel, the Jewish Museum teams up with the Film Society of Lincoln Center to present the 17th Annual New York Jewish Film Festival at the Jewish Museum and the Walter Reade Theater. From January 9-24, 32 productions from 11 countries will be screened as this fest celebrates the many facets of Judaism and life. To get this celebration of life going, head over to Brother Jimmy’s Bait Shack for some southern BBQ. Not the quintessential Hebrew meal, but if you’re into BBQ, then you can’t go wrong here. For drinks, Stir is a beautiful lounge that is a bit more upscale than the surrounding Irish bars. Serving up martini’s and upscale tapas style eats, this place is laid back. If you have the time, check out Logos Bookstore, where your interest in Judaism can be sparked along with finding books for adults and kids.
