The Daily Shortlist April 3

6:00 AM Posted by Short and Sweet NYC

Location: Upper West Side, NYC
Reading: Victor Wooten
Show time: 5:30 PM
Venue: Barnes & Noble
Food: Seven’s Mediterranean Turkish Grill
Drink: Shalel Lounge
Miscellaneous: Boat Basin Cafe

Legendary bassist for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Victor Wooten reads from his new novel, The Music Lesson, signs copies of his new album palmystery, and performs on bass. If you’re looking for some good Mediterranean food on the UWS, Seven’s is an excellent choice. Specializing in Pides (stuffed dough), they also serve most of the staple Turkish dishes from fresh made humus ($6.50) to a variety of Doner Kebab dinners. Hidden, though well worth the hunt, Shalel Lounge is a romantic spot with a cave-like atmosphere, and an excellent though pricey beer and wine list. Overlooking the water in Riverside Park, the Boat Basin Café is a really beautiful outdoor café with one of the best views of the Hudson River and NJ. You heard me, NJ! The menu is mostly burgers and sandwiches and plenty of BBQ. Best of all, it’s affordable and fun.
